New plans in place for 2019 Kingston Show – Coastal Leader

The 2019 Kingston Show Society is in its final stages of organising the annual event. The society has organised new sections for show goers to enter, with the committee putting together a “Blokes Chocolate Cake competition”. Organisers are currently looking for identities and favourite men around town to cook up a chocolate wonderment, with the show committee looking to auction them off at the end of the day, giving people the opportunity to bid for the winning cake. Another new section is the ‘Decorate your Boot,’ involving people painting, glittering and encrusting their shoes with whatever they like while making sure it’s loud and proud to attract the judges and gain the audience’s attention. All the old favourites will be at the show once again this year, and the committee has organised a new fantastic dinosaur exhibition, “Dinkum Dinosaurs” as one of the main attractions this year. The show committee is still looking for a community group to operate the show’s entrance gates. The committee has organised five people who will assist with the roster, however, the committee is still searching for a coordinator. Committee members are encouraging groups to come forward to volunteer, explaining that if one is a part of a group and is seeking some additional funds, this will be a good opportunity. Groups are encouraged to contact Pauline Williams at the Kingston Newsagency for more information. To stay up to date with the plans for the Kingston Show or to apply for a trade space, visit the show’s Facebook site where trade space forms will be available. The Kingston Show Society is encouraging people who might be interested in the show this year to start sewing, knitting, crocheting, painting, growing and whatever else everyone would be interested in now. It’s time now to start preparing for the long weekend in October when the fantastic Kingston Show will take place at Gall Park. Attractions that will be at the show again this year include Cassandra the face painter, James the magician, Animals Anonymous as well as South Australian band ‘Me and my Mates’ who will be entertaining the crowd throughout the day.
