BATAVIA — Averyl H. Murphy, 87, of Batavia, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2019, at the Le Roy Village Green Nursing Facility.
Averyl was born Nov. 25, 1931, in Buffalo, a daughter of the late Frederick and Dorotha (Hancock) Saunders.
Averyl was devoted to her family. She was an organist and pianist with a beautiful singing voice, who used her talents to serve the Lord. Averyl enjoyed quilting, sewing, knitting, crocheting and folk art.
Survivors include her children, Jeffery (Cathy) Houseknecht of Darien Center, Syd (Vicki) Houseknecht of Albion, Greg (Valerie) Houseknecht of Oakfield and Nancy (Mahlon) Miller of Alexander; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
Averyl is the wife of the late Robert W. Houseknecht and Francis James Murphy; mother of the late Rebecca Houseknecht; and sister of the late Phillip Saunders and Clifford Saunders.
Calling hours are Friday from 2-4 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 E. Main St., Batavia, where services will be held at 4 p.m., also on Friday. Averyl will be laid to rest in Elmwood Cemetery, Batavia.
